Independent infrastructure advisory for small SaaS teams

Find the Risks Hiding in Your Infrastructure

I provide fixed-scope reviews for teams that need senior guidance on cloud architecture, Terraform, delivery pipelines, reliability, and cost—but aren't ready to add another full-time platform engineer.

A Senior Second Set of Eyes

Architecture & Terraform

Surface brittle design decisions, unnecessary complexity, and infrastructure-as-code risks before they become expensive incidents.

Cloud Cost

Identify likely waste, missing cost controls, and architecture choices that make your bill harder to understand or manage.

Delivery & Reliability

Review deployment paths, observability, recovery readiness, and the operational gaps that keep your team firefighting.

Prioritized Next Steps

Leave with a written, risk-ranked roadmap your team can use—whether or not you hire me for anything else.

The Infrastructure Risk & Cost Review

Who It Is For

Small SaaS teams with growing infrastructure, recurring operational pain, or a cloud bill nobody fully trusts.

What You Receive

A focused technical review, written findings, prioritized recommendations, and a live handoff with your team.

Experienced Judgment, Without the Consulting Theater

I’m Drew Hamilton. I’ve spent 31 years working in technology across more than a dozen companies, including independent consulting engagements and more infrastructure projects than I can reasonably count.

I work directly with your team. The goal is not to sell a transformation program—it is to tell you plainly what looks sound, what looks risky, and what deserves attention first.

More Than 80% Reduction in AWS Spend

The Situation

While designing the initial and production AWS EKS infrastructure for a startup, I identified a rapid, unexplained increase in its cloud bill.

The Work

I corrected the immediate capacity problem, centralized data storage, removed unused EC2 instances and EBS volumes, reduced the RDS footprint, and retired resources left from the initial development environment.

The Result

The immediate correction reduced spending by more than 50% compared with the previous month. The broader cleanup removed approximately another 30% of the original monthly bill.

Combined result: more than 80% lower AWS spend, along with a cleaner and more understandable production environment.

From Multi-Day Manual Releases to Controlled Delivery

The Situation

A growing software company had paying enterprise customers but still deployed manually. Releases took several days, controls were limited, and deployments regularly broke production.

The Work

Within my first month, I established a development-to-QA-to-production flow driven by release tags. Deployment steps were automated, while authorized approvers used tracked Slack controls to approve promotion between environments.

The Result

The company gained a consistent, controlled, and auditable release process. The correct version was vetted before production, and production rollbacks were nearly eliminated.

Combined result: automated delivery without removing deliberate human authorization, along with a documented release path the company could manage and audit.
